ABOUT TAEKWON-DO

Taekwon-Do is a martial art that can benefit every aspect of your life. It provides a great opportunity to achieve a fantastic level of fitness, learn techniques to defend yourself and develop your self-confidence through physical and mental training. Taekwon-Do classes foster social development and regular training enriches the positive for young and old alike.
Students begin as White Belts. The journey to Black Belt involves 10 gradings with each student progressing at their own pace. At a grading, the student gains deeper knowledge of the martial art and performs specific Patterns unique to the grade being tested.

Our Kidz Program has been specifically tailored to teach Taekwon-Do to children as young as four years of age. Through fun and games in a group setting, children are taught Taekwon-Do moves and drills alongside life-enhancing skills such as communication, respect, courtesy and child safety. The Kidz Program consists of 4 gradings, preparing the child for Junior Taekwon-Do.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and love of Taekwon-Do with you.

TESTIMONIALS

RONAN FLYNN (Adult student)

"The standard of instruction at Chosun Taekwon-do is superb and the camaraderie among its students is unparalleled. Classes are very rewarding and great fun; after 8 years of practicing Taekwon-do, I learn some new nuance or insight in each Chosun class. There is also a good choice of local locations: I can get an extra class during the week or make up a class that I missed on a different day".

MARY AHERNE (Parent of students)

"My eldest child started Chosun Taekwon-Do at the age of five, I was so impressed by her transformation, Mr. O Connor's teaching skills and the Taekwon-Do program, that my other 2 children joined as soon as they could. Taekwon-Do has benefited my children in many ways from physical fitness and self-defence, to the perseverance and self-discipline needed to achieve the grades from yellow to black belt. Through participation in competitions, they understand the principles of winning and losing as well as encouraging confidence to believe in themselves. The club also promotes and encourages mentoring between peers and younger belts which has enhanced confidence and self-assurance within my children.
The camaraderie element fostered by Mr O’Conner in his teaching has boosted their enjoyment of these classes with their peers and coaches. They have made great friends through Taekwon-Do and look forward to class every week."

SEAN MCCONOLOGUE (Teenage student)

"As a Junior Black Belt currently training and assisting at Chosun Taekwondo, my journey has been transformative.
When I first walked into the dojang over 15 years ago, I was shy, nervous and lacking confidence. The structured environment alongside the supportive and welcoming instructor at Chosun Taekwondo provided me with a safe space to grow and learn. The intense training and the discipline required to advance through the belts and tags taught me the value of perseverance and hard work. Each session with Mr O’Connor challenges me in a different way from the very start learning the basics of a white belt to mastering the techniques of a black belt many dedicated years later. Mr O’Connor always finds a way to keep the classes productive and most importantly, fun and engaging. Taekwon-Do has influenced me in all walks of life. The courtesy learned in Taekwondo has been transferable into my working life and the perseverance practiced in Taekwondo has seen me through the hardest challenges in personal and school life. Chosun Taekwondo is a safe place for all students of any ability and Mr O’Connor’s ability to connect with his students is like no other. This club has certainly shaped who I am today and has provided me with brilliant ethics to carry into my future life."
